Background

The Northland Canoe was produced in Huntsville, Ontario by Mr. Albert Maw. I suspect this is a circa 1970's but my understanding is that Northlands Canoe Company started with canvas covered hulls but began to use fibreglass as an alternative to the heavier canvas style.

The Project

I wish I had more time to explain the project, instead, all I can provide is an image gallery and some quick commentary. Sorry :(

The seats were original rawhide but the years have deteriorated the leather, I will restore these seats with a bootlace design.

The second concern is the small tears in the original fiberglass and the delamination from the wood planks (you can see this in the different colour tones- white & dark brown). I will cut out the major tears and replace them with new fiberglass. Then I will apply 3 coats of epoxy to the entire hull.
